Every morning I walk down to the meadow
And hack down as many trees as possible
The machine at the store told me that this model could cut down just about any tree in the forest

For each log I give to my benefactor I receive three tickets
It is not much, but it’s enough to get my jollies in order
Last night I had another one of those “dreams”
I had dreamt that I was standing in a field that I had cleared out months ago
but I couldn’t move
In the mist
I saw a stranger
They began heading in my direction
Closer, I saw they had the face of a lion
and the tail of a snake
And in their left hand
Fingers twisting like the vines of creation
When I saw what was in that left hand I trembled
It was the horizontal conqueror
